Tums Fast Relief 500

The Tums Fast Relief 500 is a NASCAR Sprint Cup Series stock car race held at the Martinsville Speedway in Ridgeway, Virginia. It is the seventh race in the ten race Chase for the Sprint Cup and has been broadcast over ESPN related networks since 2007.

The 1:30 p.m. Eastern start time is one of the earliest starts in the Chase. The track does not have permanent lights installed, and shadows cast heavily over the facility in mid-October, when the race has been held since 2001. Most other NASCAR events have set a start time for 2 p.m. or later since 2005.

The Tums sponsorship returned sponsorship to GlaxoSmithKline for 2012. Traditionally, the winner of this race receives a custom-built grandfather clock.

Past winners

• 1954 & 1958: Race shortened due to darkness.
• 1973 & 1976: Race shortened due to rain.
• 2001: Race postponed from Sunday to Monday due to rain.
• 2007, 2008, & 2009: Race extended due to a Green-white-checker finish.

Television broadcasters

• The 2001 race, originally scheduled on NBC, was rained out and run on Monday. (NBC aired a Busch Series race live from Memphis Motorsports Park on Sunday that had been rained out the day before, which was to be on TNT.)
